Location: Kochi, India Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Department Manager with a strong architectural background to lead and manage the Technical Department and oversee all technical and execution-related deliverables for luxury residential, hospitality, and commercial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the technical team, developing quality standards, reviewing and approving shop drawings, improving internal procedures, and ensuring the delivery of all projects with the highest levels of technical accuracy and execution quality. Responsibilities and Duties: Leadership and Team Management • Lead and manage the Technical Department team. • Supervise architects, engineers, and technical draftsmen, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance development. • Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Head Office. • Keep the Head Office informed of all updates related to project documentation and files. • Allocate projects and tasks among team members and monitor work progress. • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and conduct regular team performance evaluations. • Foster a professional work environment built on quality, accountability, and efficiency. • Train team members and enhance their technical knowledge and execution capabilities. • Participate in the recruitment, assessment, and selection of new technical talent. Technical Oversight and Drawing Management • Oversee the preparation, review, and approval of all technical and shop drawings for projects. • Ensure that all drawings are fully developed and ready for site execution and fabrication. • Review and approve the following Shop Drawings: o Furniture Layout Drawings o Ceiling Drawings o Flooring Layout Drawings o Elevations and Sections o Wall Details and Cladding o Lighting Layout Drawings, ensuring integration with electrical and mechanical systems o Technical, Material, and Finishes Schedules. o Ensure that all drawings are fully aligned with the 3Ds design and project execution requirements. Quality Assurance and Technical Control • Establish and continuously develop drafting, documentation, and technical drawing standards across the company. • Develop and implement quality control and review systems for all technical deliverables. • Review all drawings prior to issuance to ensure they are free from discrepancies, and technical errors. • Ensure that all drawings comply with engineering standards, project requirements, and applicable specifications. • Enhance the overall quality of technical deliverables while minimizing errors, revisions, and changes during the execution phase. • Identify and resolve technical challenges proactively, providing effective solutions before they impact project execution. Cross-Department Coordination • Serve as the primary liaison between the various departments within the organization. • Maintain continuous coordination with: o Interior Design Department o Architectural Design Department o Project Management Department • Ensure seamless integration across all disciplines and achieve the highest level of coordination between design and execution. Site Support and Execution Management • Provide technical support to project execution teams throughout all project phases. • Review technical issues encountered on-site and propose appropriate and practical solutions. • Monitor the implementation of approved drawings and ensure that execution work meets the required quality standards. • Participate in technical meetings and site visits as required. • Verify that all executed works comply with the approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements. Systems and Process Development • Develop and continuously improve operational workflows and procedures within the Technical Department. • Establish and maintain a standardized library of technical details, specifications, and drawings. • Develop and enhance work templates and technical documentation procedures. • Improve workflow efficiency and reduce project delivery timelines. • Lead digital transformation initiatives and drive the development of technical systems and processes within the department. Required Qualifications Education • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (mandatory requirement). Experience • A minimum of 15 years of experience in architecture, shop drawings, and technical detailing. • A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading technical teams or managing engineering/technical departments. • Proven experience in luxury residential, hospitality, and high-end commercial projects. • Strong experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across multiple technical disciplines. Technical Skills Essential Requirements • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. • Extensive experience in the preparation and review of shop drawings. • Strong knowledge of: o Architectural detailing o fixed furniture work o Ceiling and flooring systems o Materials and finishes o shop drawings o Multidisciplinary engineering coordination o Technical quality management Preferred Qualifications • Revit • BIM • SketchUp • 3ds Max • Adobe Photoshop Leadership and Soft Skills • Strong leadership and management skills. • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams. • Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills. • Strong planning, organizational, and time management abilities. • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and deadlines. • Details-oriented and commitment to quality.
